DAVID R. RIKER, M.D.

Dr. David R. Riker received his medical degree from Michigan State University in 1999. He then went on to complete his Internal Medicine training at Loyola Medical Center, Chicago in 2002. He completed his Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship in 2005 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, during which time he also completed a MPH in Clinical Trials Research. While at UIHC, Dr. Riker began performing rigid bronchoscopy under the mentorship of an interventional pulmonologist.

In 2005 he completed a one year interventional pulmonary training fellowship under the direction of three interventional pulmonologists at the Lahey Clinic in Boston. He continued at Lahey Clinic as Tufts University Assistant Professor of Medicine faculty. During his 4 years at Lahey Clinic, Dr. Riker directly mentored interventional pulmonary fellows who then went on to successfully build IP programs.

Dr. Riker moved to San Diego after accepting a position as Assistant Professor of Medicine at UCSD where his primary role was the advancement and expansion of their interventional pulmonary program. In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Riker is a well-known and respected author, having numerous published articles and manuscripts. He is also highly regarded lecturer and has presented throughout the US at numerous medical education courses.

MICHAEL MCKENNA, M.D.

McKenna

Dr. Michael McKenna received his medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical School in 1976 and went on to complete his Anesthesiology training at the University of California, Davis.

In 1979. Dr. McKenna opened a private practice in Marysville-Yuba City, CA. He continued in private practice after moving to San Diego and was on staff at multiple hospitals throughout the city.

Dr. McKenna was on staff when Promise Hospital of San Diego opened in 2005 and continues to be an important and very involved member of the medical staff. Dr. McKenna served as a US Marine in Vietnam before attending Syracuse University undergraduate and SUNY Medical School.
